Last month, we shared important details about the legislative changes introduced under the “Getting the NDIS Back on Track Bill No.1,” which took effect on 3rd October 2024. If you missed this update, we encourage you to catch up by reviewing it here: NDIS Policy Reforms – Effective 3rd October 2024.
This month, we want to bring your attention to further proposed changes under the “Proposed NDIS Act Amendments Bill No.2.”
The NDIS Commission has introduced proposed amendments to the NDIS Act aimed at improving the quality and safety of supports and services for participants. These proposed changes include:
Mandatory NDIS Registration for Certain Providers:
Providers of Platform Services, Supported Independent Living (SIL) Services, and Support Coordination will be required to hold mandatory NDIS registration.
Timeline for Implementation:
This requirement will not take effect before 1st July 2025, providing time for providers to prepare for compliance.
Public Consultations Open:
The NDIS Commission is seeking feedback on these proposed amendments. To learn more or share your input, visit the NDIS Commission Reform Hub.
It’s also important to note a separate, significant policy change that will take effect from 1st July 2025:
This is a policy decision and does not fall under the legislative changes discussed above.
We encourage you to review these proposed changes thoroughly and provide your feedback to the NDIS Commission. This is an opportunity to have your say and shape the future of the NDIS.
For questions or concerns, an Enquiry Form is available on the NDIS Commission website.
Thank you for your attention to these updates. Keeping up to date with NDIS reforms is essential to ensure smooth transitions and compliance. If you have further questions, we recommend contacting the NDIS Commission directly for more detailed guidance.
Stay tuned for more updates, and feel free to reach out if you need support navigating these changes.
